Studying abroad for a year is a great experience that people and you try to prepare the best for. There's getting your passport, applying for your visa, and other logistics. Something that no one prepares you for is saying goodbye to all the connections you have made during the first semester. As most of the United Nations and other friends slowly returned to their homes, it was hard to hold back the tears. It is difficult to express the feelings of being in the right time and the right place to meet a group of wonderful and loving people who you know you will share a deep connection with no matter how far you live from each other.
On the week of the last hugs, laughs, and many promises to visit each other, my dear friends left. This marked the end of the fall semester. Winter break started, and I finally could breathe again. Exploring Japan and my family visiting me helped relax me by taking my mind off school. As winter break ended, looking towards the horizon with a few friends who also had a year in Taiwan, a new group of exchange students joined NCU, and, for me, an internship was waiting in the spring semester.
